About Me

Hi, I’m Amy! I’m a 17-year-old author currently living in Queensland, Australia, but I originally come from South Africa. I was born in 2001 in KwaZulu-Natal, where I spent the first thirteen years of my life reading, drawing and exploring the expansive domain of my own uncharted fantasy world (better known as my garden).

My passion for writing originally began with my interest in – or discontentment with – literature. I couldn’t find the perfect story, so I decided to create it myself. It was with great pride that, at the tender age of 7, I announced that I was writing my first “book”: a 16-page story about a pack of wolves on my dad’s computer. Some weeks later, bombarded by writer’s block, I closed the computer and abandoned the story, deciding that writing was an awful lot of work. In other words, I was hooked.

From that point on, I continued in my endeavor to write – and finish – a book. These efforts were, at first, without avail: I would begin a story, progress into the plot, then fall into the inevitable pit of writer’s block. Eventually, I grew to realise that this would get me nowhere: so, in 2011, I began writing a new story which I promised I would continue.

This promise eventually paid off. In 2014, the now-completed novel, Tears of the Dragon, was published – shortly before my 13th birthday. Since then, I have published the sequel, Eye of the Storm.
